Getting Started with AI Interviewer

Key takeaways

  • Use AI Interviewer to screen and shortlist candidates before moving to human interviews.
  • Set up and customize interviews quickly with just a few simple steps.
  • Choose skills and interview types based on the role you're hiring for.
  • Get started with 5 free interviews to test out the process.

It’s important to understand that the idea behind AI interviewer is not to entirely replace human interviews - rather, the point is to asynchronously test the skills of the mass volume of inbound applications you’re receiving, create a shortlist of the top performers, then pass those individuals on to human interviews. Implementing this simple step into our partner’s businesses has led to a ~5x higher human interview pass rate and ~85% reduction in recruiting costs.

Here’s how to get started in 5 simple steps & try out 10 interviews completely free:

Step 1: Register for micro1

Self explanatory, create a quick account in 5 seconds & let us know the name of your amazing company.

Step 2: Navigate to the AI Interviewer section & create an interview

On the left sidebar, simply click on ‘AI Interviewer’ to start setting up your first interview. To get started, click ‘Create a new interview on the top right of your screen’, then proceed to start setting up the interview environment for your candidate(s).

Step 3: Choose your interview type

If you’re interviewing engineers, you can choose if you want to carry out a full interview (hard skills, soft skills, and coding exercise), or just a coding exercise on its own. We also offer unique interviews for STEM roles and other custom non-technical roles such as marketing, operations, or even underwater basket weaving. Simply pick whichever role you’re looking to start interviewing for first. In this example we will proceed with a full engineer interview.

Step 4: Define the skills you want the candidate interviewed on… or don’t

You have the option to interview candidates on specific skills, or allow them to define their skills themselves. You will also have the option to choose the level of seniority for each of the skills you’re interviewing for. If you’d like to pick the skills yourself, click ‘Yes, I will define the skills’. If you’d like the candidate to pick the skills themself, click ‘No, they can choose’.

For the sake of this example, we will define the exact skills we want to interview for: mid-level Node.js and senior-level React.

Note: you also have the option to add custom questions and choose from existing interviews (though this is likely irrelevant now in your first interview).

Step 5: Invite a candidate

After picking the language you’d like to interview in, simply invite a candidate by inputting their name and email. They’ll automatically receive a friendly email to take a quick interview.

And boom, just like that you created your first interview environment and invited a candidate.

Once they complete the interview, all you have to do is log back into micro1 and navigate to the AI Interviewer section again to view the post-interview report by clicking on the candidates name.

As a reminder the first 10 interviews are completely free. Create an account to give it a try :D
